A unique opportunity has arisen to work for Cambridge Vacuum Engineering (CVE), a prestigious and highly innovative British manufacturing business with over 50 years of experience manufacturing Electron Beam systems and Vacuum Furnaces from its base in Cambridge, UK.

CVE was established in 1959 and has become a market leader in several specialist applications. 95% of their business is export-focused, and they also have sales and service subsidiaries in the US and China.

CVE designs, develops, installs, and services worldwide, tailoring all of their systems to meet individual client needs. One of their groundbreaking inventions is the Ebflow welding system, developed over ten years of R&D with The Welding Institute (TWI) and global partners, followed by five years of research on a large-scale test facility.

The Ebflow electron beam welding system is a revolutionary technology that establishes and maintains a local vacuum only where needed, allowing it to be operated on-site and applied to large structures. This system is the most advanced, high-speed, and cost-effective electron beam welding solution for demanding tasks in various applications.

This newly created opportunity for a UK-based Global Sales Director involves marketing and selling the EBFLOW electron beam welding systems to large global companies specializing in offshore wind, heavy section pressure vessels, or flat plate steel manufacturing and fabrication.

Job Description

  • Create and implement a robust global business development-focused sales plan to identify and target key end-user customers who will benefit from the EBFLOW welding system.
  • Utilise existing company relationships and EBFLOW systems in operations to maximize business opportunities.
  • Work in a technically led sales process, selling the value-added cost and time-saving efficiency benefits of the EBFLOW system at a senior executive level within potential customers.

The Successful Applicant

  • A proven track record of sales achievements within capital equipment engineered systems or solutions with project values exceeding £3M.
  • Experience in a project-based capital sales cycle with long lead times and multiple decision-makers, from opportunity creation through to sales completion and ongoing customer relationship management.
  • Experience developing major multinational customers at Board-C level and influencing high-profile external stakeholders and industry specialists.
  • An engineering background is preferred but not essential.
  • Strong commercial acumen and strategic approach.
  • Natural gravitas and credibility in solution selling multimillion-pound cost-saving solutions at C-level.
  • Outstanding presentation, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Experience in a role requiring international travel to create sales opportunities.
