Job description, responsibilities and duties

Cambridge International School is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for overseeing financial operations, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing strategic financial insights to support the company's growth. This role requires a deep understanding of accounting principles, strong analytical skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various departments.

Some of the responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Leading accounting;
  • Bank payments: invoices, salaries, financial contribution, any requests regarding payments;
  • Credit card payments & cash payments;
  • Payroll accounting, communication with the payroll department;
  • Communication with banks (Tatrabanka), any requests regarding payments, payment confirmations, payment cards;
  • Participation on budgeting;
  • Communication with tax offices;
  • Monthly closing, Annual closing;
  • Preparing financial statements - balance sheet, profit and loss.

Candidates with education suitable for the position

Secondary with school-leaving examination
University education (Bachelor's degree)
University education (Master's degree)
Postgraduate (Doctorate)

English - Upper intermediate (B2) and Slovak - Upper intermediate (B2)

Other knowledge

Microsoft Office 365 - Advanced
Microsoft Excel - Advanced
GAAP - Advanced
Money software - Basic

Experience in the position/sector

5 years

  • Experience with grant accounting and donor restrictions;
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills;
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality;
  • A team player who is willing to share knowledge and assistance;
  • Ability to use initiative and be proactive;
  • Experience with purchasing and dealing with local and international suppliers;
  • Work well under pressure and able to handle multiple tasks;
