Job description

Our client was founded in 2009 as one of the first law practices to adopt a limited liability company structure. They are a new-model law firm providing a more dynamic, forward-thinking, and independent environment in which to practise for senior lawyers, underpinned by unparalleled administrative, compliance and technological support.

The firm has grown to a team of 200+ partner-level lawyers, with year-on-year growth. The firm has ten UK offices in London (x3), Leeds, Manchester, Liverpool, Chester, Leicester, Birmingham, and Stoke-on-Trent.

They are seeking a skilled Financial Accountant to join our growing finance team, to maintain our financial records and ensure compliance with accounting regulations.

Responsibilities

  1. Managing and maintaining financial records, including general ledger accounts and financial statements.
  2. Reviewing financial documents and transactions to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  3. Performing financial analysis and reporting to support business decisions.
  4. Preparing and reviewing annual/quarterly forecasts and financial reports.
  5. Developing and implementing economic policies and procedures in the company.
  6. Providing timely financial information to support decision-making processes.
  7. Contributing to the overall financial health and stability of the organisation.
  8. Preparing and presenting statements, such as balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  9. Performing monthly and annual financial closing activities.
  10. Reconciling financial discrepancies by collecting and studying account information.
  11. Analysing financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement and providing insights to management for decision-making.
  12. Managing treasury payment issues where applicable, including domestic and foreign payments.
  13. Ensuring that the organisation complies with all financial regulations, including tax laws, accounting standards, and reporting requirements.
  14. Assisting in the financial setup of new overseas offices and liaising with accountants in those countries to ensure all local regulations are complied with.

Candidate Profile

  1. Professional certification such as CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is preferred or QBE.
  2. 4+ years of experience in accounting or finance.
  3. Good technical knowledge in tax and accounting.
  4. Strong understanding of accounting principles, practices, and procedures.
  5. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word).
  6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  7. Attention to detail and accuracy in financial data analysis and reporting.
  8. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  9. Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  10. Preferred skills and qualifications:
  11. Experience in financial analysis and forecasting.
  12. Knowledge of accounting software such as Xero.
  13. Experience in a multinational or cross-cultural work environment.
  14. Knowledge of IFRS (International Financial Reporting Standards).
  15. Great organisational and time management skills.
