Build technology that accelerates the shift to clean energy
Komodo Energy is looking for an experienced software engineer who wants to use their skills to accelerate the transition to sustainable energy. We are an early-stage climate tech company building technology that increases the use of renewable energy by seamlessly generating ‘energy flexibility’ in heat assets like heat pumps and hot water tanks.

This is an opportunity to join us right at the beginning of our journey as our first engineering hire. You’ll work directly with our CTO, shaping our technology and technical culture. The potential for impact—both on the climate and your own career—is immense.

About Us
We are developing software that enables smart energy assets such as heat pumps, thermal storage, batteries and electric vehicles to support a greener, more affordable energy grid. By optimising when and how these devices consume electricity and connecting them to a range of local and national energy markets, we help reduce fossil fuel dependency while making low-carbon technology cheaper for households and businesses.

Supported by top investors, we have just completed the first close of our pre-seed funding, with more to come later this year.

What we're looking for
As our first engineering hire, you’ll have a pivotal role in shaping our technology. You likely have deep expertise in a specific area—whether front-end, back-end, DevOps, or data engineering—but you’re also eager to step outside your specialty when needed, tackling whatever is most important to drive the company forward.

This role is designed for a senior engineer, but we’re open to mid-level candidates who are excited to step up and take on more responsibility.

• You bring deep expertise in one area but are willing to work across the stack.
• You enjoy tackling complex technical challenges, even beyond your core skill set.
• Experience with cloud platforms, distributed systems, or IoT is a plus but not required.

Details
Salary: ~£60k + equity (negotiable depending on your preference for more cash vs. equity)
Remote-first: with occasional travel to London/Cambridge for discussions with the founders
Co-working membership: Eagle Labs for Cambridge-based engineers, other locations TBD
