Early Years Level 2 Apprenticeship – Ragamuffins Day Nursery Birmingham Road

Raghamuffins Day Nursery Limited – Redditch (B97 6EH)

Open positions will close on Monday 20 April 2026.

Join our established team as an early years apprentice. You will plan and deliver fun and educational activities for children, while caring for their developmental and personal needs.

Wage: £15,600 for first year. Rates may increase based on age.

Apprentices are paid at the National Minimum Wage rate for apprentices.

What you’ll do
  • Plan and deliver fun and educational activities.
  • Play alongside children to support their play and development.
  • Support and record observations in children’s records.
  • Supervise rest times and mealtimes.
  • Create a safe, happy environment and keep play areas clean.
  • Work with outside agencies to support children.

Training
  • Support babies and young children through transitions and significant events.
  • Recognise and respond to child danger, risk, or abuse, following safeguarding procedures.
  • Identify risks and hazards, report appropriately.
  • Practice infection control, safe food handling, clean disposal, PPE.
  • Use equipment and materials safely, following instructions.
  • Promote personal safety, hygiene and healthy balanced meals.
  • Provide respectful care routines suitable to development stage.
  • Communicate with children, parents, carers and professionals.
  • Implement and review play and developmental activities.
  • Record observations and share results in line with statutory requirements.
  • Use learning activities to support early language, literacy, numeracy.
  • Support gradual progression of individual care plans.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, agencies, parents.
  • Receive feedback, mentoring, supervision for development.

The apprenticeship follows the Level 2 Early Years Practitioner standard, including:

  • Level 2 Early Years Practitioner Diploma.
  • Level 1 Functional Skills in Maths and English (if required).
  • End‑Point Assessment (EPA).
  • On‑job training.
Requirements

GCSE or equivalent in Maths (grade 4‑9). Additional qualifications and experience welcome.

Other requirements

If using public transport, ensure a regular service is available.
