Job description

As a Health & Safety Manager at Athena Care Homes, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and managing health and safety programs across our seven care homes.

About the role:
The Health and Safety Manager will collaborate with various departments to ensure compliance with relevant UK health and safety regulations, promote a culture of safety, and continuously improve our health and safety practices.

Salary:
£45,000 to £50,000 per annum, plus £3,000 p/a car allowance.

Hours:
37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Location:
Regional – supporting all homes in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire, Kings Lynn (West Norfolk) & Ipswich (Suffolk).

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement health and safety policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with UK health and safety regulations, including the Health and Safety at Work Act.
  • Conduct regular training sessions to educate staff on health and safety protocols, emergency procedures, and best practices.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential health and safety risks within the care homes.
  • Conduct regular health and safety audits and inspections to identify areas for improvement.

Training, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager in the healthcare or care home industry is essential.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field is essential.
  • UK-specific qualifications such as NEBOSH General Certificate or equivalent are highly desirable.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant UK health and safety regulations and standards is essential.
