Deputy Ward Manager, Band 6 Opportunity Sefton Suite

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, hardworking Deputy Ward Manager to join our team on the Sefton Suite.

Sefton Suite is a 16 bedded ward providing care for both Private and NHS Patients. We cover several specialties including Private Patients, Orthopaedics, ENT and a variety of surgical procedures.

We are looking for a suitably experienced nurse who is passionate about patient safety and the delivery of exceptional quality care to patients. You will be an aspiring leader with the ability to adopt a highly accessible and visible approach for patients, relatives and colleagues. You will assist the Ward Manager with the operational management for the team working on the Ward. You will have the ability to develop a culture of continuous improvement.

You should have a keen interest in providing high quality patient centred care in a busy, fast paced, ever changing and often challenging environment.

For this role you will need to demonstrate excellent communication skills, you must display a positive and professional manner, be open to change and have the drive and commitment to aim to get it right for every patient every time. You must be flexible in your working pattern as will be required to work days and nights to ensure safe staffing of the ward also support junior staff on shift.

You will be required to demonstrate significant Band 5 experience/Leadership experience and personal professional development. We are looking for individuals with leadership potential with effective communication skills and able to demonstrate a proactive, collaborative and innovative approach to the clinical environment and passionate about excellence in patient care.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

Job responsibilities

You will support the ward manager to lead, provide and supervise a very high standard of compassionate care to our patients. You will be supporting the safety and quality agenda of patient care and staff management, ensuring that the values and objectives of the Trust are met, whilst improving patient outcomes.

You will support the journey of the patient from admission to discharge, identify risk and formulate actions to reduce this risk and ensure patient throughput is effective.

You will display excellent leadership and effective communication skills and able to demonstrate a proactive, collaborative and innovative approach to the clinical environment and passionate about excellence in patient care.

Person specification

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse, current NMC registration
  • Teaching and assessing qualification or equivalent

Experience

  • Evidence of management experience
  • Evidence of change management
  • Application of evidence based practice
  • Evidence of developing high standards of patient care
  • Lead role in education of staff and patients

Knowledge

  • Application of current nursing issues and healthcare governance

Skills

  • Ability to work in changing environments
  • Basic IT skills, including e-mail and word processing
