Location: Perth Grammar School Gowans Terrace Perth, PH1 5AZ

Salary: £35,588 - £39,248 per year

Contract Type: Permanent

Position Type: Full Time

Hours: 36 hours per week

We currently have the following opportunity:

We have a great opportunity to join the Business Support Team at Perth Grammar School as a Senior Technician.

As a Senior Technician you will be responsible for the preparation of resources and maintenance of equipment. You will participate in ensuring Health & Safety regulations are being adhered to across the school.

Key Responsibilities
  • Line manage the Technician and General Assistant.
  • Adhere to the Council’s Health & Safety and COSHH regulations.
  • Conduct and review risk assessments in collaboration with Principal Teachers.
  • Support all practical faculties with resource management, including chemical management and equipment maintenance in Science, cutting and preparing materials (timber, metals and plastics) in Technologies, and food handling in Home Economics.
  • Provide technical advice to colleagues.
  • Support the Council's IT team with device asset management.
  • Support classes and local primary schools with practical lessons as required.
  • Work with learners and colleagues every day.

You will have the opportunity to participate in on-the-job training and your continuous development will be encouraged and supported throughout your career with Perth & Kinross Council.

The working days for this role are Monday – Friday with a recommended working pattern of 8:00am to 3:45pm.

Skills & Experience Required

You will work well within a team environment but also be able to work well on your own initiative. Good verbal communication skills and a willingness to participate in any training relevant to the role are essential.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Knowledge and experience of working within a science/technical environment.
  • SVQ Level 3 or SCQF Level 6 in a science or equivalent qualification.
  • Familiarity with COSHH regulations and safe handling of chemicals.

You must be adaptable and willing to be involved in school community life, demonstrating core values of pride, respect, and ambition.
