About the role

In this role, you will be a driving force behind the analytical tools that help guide the company's technological and commercial strategies. You will be responsible for:

  1. Enhancement of our virtual tools which are designed to simulate real-world dynamics to predict the performance of our novel ship designs and benchmark against contemporary options.
  2. Collaborate with the engineering team to identify the physics and associated formulae to represent the real world.
  3. Source, collect, clean, and transform data from various sources.
  4. Develop and implement statistical methods or machine learning models to analyse/interpret data and identify patterns and trends.
  5. Integrate and source data from APIs.
  6. Communicate complex findings and insights to technical and non-technical audiences through clear and compelling presentations.

You are a perfect fit if you have:

  1. A degree in Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Physics, Mathematics or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  2. Strong programming skills in Python (including libraries like NumPy, Pandas) and experience with SQL and Excel.
  3. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  4. Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
  5. The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  6. The right to live and work in the UK (essential).
  7. Familiarity with the Maritime industry or similar industries.
  8. Open-source contributions or personal data science projects.
  9. Experience in designing and implementing machine learning models.

Location

Remote (UK-based), however, close proximity to Portsmouth/Southampton is considered a plus for occasional in-person meetings.
