Wigan and Leigh Hospice is a well-established charity which has been operating since 1983. We provide a wide range of palliative care services to people with advancing life-limiting illnesses of any diagnosis and to those people important to them. The support we offer is tailored to meet individuals’ physical, social, spiritual and emotional needs.
Many services provided by Wigan & Leigh Hospice are dependent on the goodwill of our generous volunteers.
Volunteers benefit from help towards bus fare and can apply for a Blue Light Card after their probation period.
About the role
Our charity shops are run by a team of committed volunteers who give their time and skills to raise vital funds for the hospice.
We’re looking for Volunteers who are approachable and friendly, with a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. This role is only open to applicants over the age of 18, with the exception of applicants for our Golborne shop where the minimum age is 16.
In return, you’ll be offered support and training to do the job, as well as the opportunity to be part of a brilliant team who really make a difference.
A typical day will involve serving customers using the electronic till system, assisting customers with their purchases, as well as ensuring the shop is well presented and welcoming to customers to help to bring in as much income as possible to support the hospice.
We are looking for a number of volunteers who can commit to a minimum of a half day shift per week to allow us to extend our opening hours. The shifts may vary slightly by shop but are generally 9.00am – 12.30pm & 12.30pm – 4.00pm.
