Description

As a Senior SEO Strategist, you’ll be responsible for leading, developing, and executing SEO strategies across multiple clients. You’ll manage SEO campaigns end-to-end, ensuring measurable results while overseeing the day-to-day execution of SEO work. This role requires a blend of technical SEO expertise, content strategy, AI-driven workflow optimisation, and client communication to drive measurable results.
You’ll collaborate closely with clients, internal teams, and the SEO Director to strengthen the SEO department, providing strategic direction, technical expertise, and clear communication on SEO performance. A key part of this role includes managing and mentoring a team, so prior experience leading and developing SEO professionals is essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Full campaign management – Oversee SEO strategies for client accounts, ensuring online visibility and organic search performance.
  • Develop and lead data-driven SEO strategies across various industries, aligned with client goals and KPIs.
  • Conduct in-depth keyword research, competitor analysis, and on-page optimisation to improve organic performance.
  • Monitor, analyse, and adjust SEO strategies based on performance, ensuring ongoing improvements.
  • Conduct technical SEO audits, identifying site performance issues.
  • Provide CMS expertise (WordPress, Shopify, Magento) and liaise with client development teams to execute SEO recommendations.
  • Implement structured data, site speed optimisations, indexing improvements, and mobile-first strategies.
  • Comfortable working with HTML and PHP coding (preferred but not essential).
  • Act as contact for clients, managing relationships and ensuring strategic alignment.
  • Present campaign progress, results, and insights through regular client calls, meetings, and reports.
  • Build strong client relationships by understanding their brand, sector, competitors, and audience.
  • Ensure a high standard of customer service and transparency in all client interactions.
  • Leverage AI tools (ChatGPT, Google Gemini, automation scripts) to streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
  • Use AI-driven keyword clustering, content generation, and backlink analysis to enhance SEO efficiency.
  • Train team members on AI-powered SEO processes to optimise workloads.
  • Work alongside and collaborate with JBH teams.
  • Support content strategy development by advising on and delivering SEO-friendly content creation, leveraging AI tools to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Coach, oversee and mentor less experienced SEO Executives, providing training and career development opportunities.
  • Assign and oversee SEO tasks within the team, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing, keeping the SEO team updated on best practices and industry trends.
  • Stay up to date with Google algorithm updates, SEO trends, and emerging best practices.
  • Continuously refine SEO tactics, bringing new ideas and innovative strategies to the team.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • 4+ years of SEO experience, ideally in an agency setting.
  • Strong technical SEO skills, including auditing, issue resolution, and site architecture optimisation.
  • Proven track record of executing successful SEO campaigns that drive organic search growth.
  • Experience using Google Analytics 4 (GA4), Google Search Console, SEMrush, Ahrefs, Screaming Frog, and other SEO tools.
  • Ability to develop and automate workflows using AI tools for SEO efficiency.
  • Excellent client communication and presentation skills – ability to explain SEO insights clearly.
  • Strong analytical mindset, with expertise in SEO performance tracking and reporting.
  • Experience managing client retainers.
  • Line management experience, with the ability to mentor and develop junior SEO team members.
  • Ability to collaborate across teams.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with a passion for staying ahead of SEO trends.
