The role

Orbit are delighted to announce that we are looking to recruit an Information Security Lead to join our IT & Transformation team. You will work in an Information Security team, leading on cyber security projects, whilst directly line managing three analysts.

In this new role, you will lead and develop our security operations while maintaining hands-on involvement in incident management, threat response, and security technology implementation. This role requires a strong understanding of Microsoft security technologies (Microsoft Defender, Sentinel, Intune, etc.), Firewall technologies (Checkpoint preferred) and experience working with third-party Managed Detection and Response (MDR) providers.

The ideal candidate will be a proactive leader who can drive Information security strategy, while being hands on in responding to threats and ensure that our security operations are aligned with industry best practices.

This is primarily a remote working role, however Orbit offer an Agile working approach, meaning travel to our Coventry - Garden Court office will be required sporadically, in line with business needs.

What you'll achieve

Your key responsibilities will be to:

  • Contribute to the development of the security program, focusing on identifying vulnerabilities, evaluating risks, and implementing security solutions. Effectively communicating risks in both technical and non-technical terms for IT and business stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Cyber Essentials Plus, NCSC CAF, NIST, and CIS benchmarks. Participate in security audits, risk assessments, and penetration tests.
  • Manage and coordinate response efforts with third-party MDR providers to ensure optimal threat detection and response. Monitor MDR service performance and enforce SLAs.
  • Investigate, contain, and remediate security incidents. Act as an escalation point for complex security threats.
  • Deputise for the Head of IT Security at various forums when necessary.

What you'll bring

Essential skills

  • Strong understanding of information/cyber security principles, practices, and technologies, including threat/vulnerability analysis.
  • Ability to analyse existing technical environments, identify security gaps, and advise on controls.
  • Understanding of network infrastructure, engineering, design, and protocols, especially related to security, including IT infrastructure components (hardware, databases, OS).
  • Experience with cloud security products and technologies (preferably Azure), including best practices implementation, secure solution design, and management.
  • Experience in technical support/operations, stakeholder management, ITIL framework, and developing technical standards/procedures.
  • CISSP or similar security certification or working towards one.
  • Experience of security applications support.
  • Ability to analyse data processes and integration between systems relating to security.
  • Awareness of PCI DSS current version.
  • Good understanding of GDPR and Data Privacy requirements.
