A leading construction company in Barrow-in-Furness is seeking an experienced Design Manager to oversee the design process for complex projects with a focus on nuclear and defence sectors. This hybrid role demands strong construction process knowledge and expertise in AutoCAD and BIM. The ideal candidate will demonstrate experience in regulated environments, ensuring all designs meet compliance and quality standards while managing a diverse team. The position includes significant responsibility and the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant projects.
Reynco Ltd are hiring a Design Manager to support the delivery of complex, high-value construction projects within regulated environments.нім This is a senior internal role suited to an experienced design professional with strong main contracting credentials and exposure to technically demanding programmes.
Location: Hybrid working with on‑site presence in Barrow‑in‑Furness (2 days per week)
Salary: Up to £85,000 + benefits
You will take ownership of the design process from early concept through to construction and handover, coordinating internal teams, consultants, and specialist subcontractors to ensure gepf designs are compliant, buildable, and aligned with programme and cost objectives.
The role is internal and delivery‑focused, operating within a main contracting environment. Experience in nuclear or defence projects is strongly preferred due to the regulatory, assurance, and compliance requirements.
You will oversee design development, manage risk, support value engineering, and maintain robust design documentation and reporting. You will also work confidently within AutoCAD and BIM environments, reviewing and coordinating technical information across disciplines.
You will have proven experience as a Design Manager within a main contracting setting, ideally on nuclear or defence projects. Strong knowledge of construction processes, design coordination, and regulated environments is essential.
Experience with AutoCAD, BIM, and digital design coordination tools is required. NEC contract experience, chartered status, and security clearance or the ability to obtain it are all advantageous.
