Base pay range: $23.00/hr – $25.00/hr.

Shift & Schedule

Second Shift: Monday – Thursday 4:00 pm – 2:30 am.

Job Overview

The Automation Fabrication Technician plays a primary role in the day‑to‑day operation of Trew’s advanced sheet metal fabrication system. This state‑of‑the‑art system includes laser cutters, press brakes, folders, part‑sorting robots, part‑forming robots, and automated sheet metal storage and retrieval. The technician is a key member of the fabrication team with responsibilities across all elements of the system, contributing to capacity planning, machine programming, machine operation, final quality, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate all key elements of the sheet metal fabrication system.
  • Identify, resolve, and prevent issues within the system.
  • Utilize specialized software packages to program and operate major elements of the system.
  • Work with the Automated Fabrication Supervisor to estimate fabrication times, balance workload, and manage work in progress to meet production schedules.
  • Regularly assess system performance against established benchmarks.
  • Perform routine checks, replace consumables, and conduct preventative maintenance to ensure system uptime.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and software tools through formal training programs and informal on‑the‑job training.
Requirements
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills, strong attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Work environment is a warehouse assembly and fabrication facility involving exposure to material‑handling equipment, standing for extended periods, following safety protocols, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Ability to travel intermittently (less than 10%) for training.
Education / Experience
  • Associate’s degree in an engineering or manufacturing discipline (MET, EET, Electro‑Mechanical, Mechatronics, Advanced Manufacturing, or similar).
  • OR
  • Four (4) years’ experience programming and operating CNC machines (laser, punch, press brake, mill, lathe).
  • Computer competence and deep knowledge of sheet metal fabrication strongly preferred (laser technology tables, bend parameters, automatic material loading/unloading, lights‑out operation).
