The International Potato Center (CIP) is looking for one (1) ResourceMobilization Officer/Manager with excellent organizational skills, who'll supportthe implementation of an institutional resource mobilization strategy,identifying funding opportunities, and supporting Principal Investigators (PIs)in drafting quality concept note and proposals. The selected candidate will closelywork with CIP’s scientists and Resource Mobilization staff in all stages ofCN/proposal development, including planning, drafting, editing, endorsement, andsubmission) of major grant applications (high- dollar and/or to high-potentialprospects) to support proposal management and development for fundraising.
- Provides strategic and procedural guidance on key funding opportunitiesto PIs and their collaborators, ensuring alignment with organizational goalsand compliance with internal protocols.
- Assists PIs and their teams in making informed go/no-go decisionsregarding funding opportunities, utilizing available intelligence andopportunity analysis.
- Acts asthe process manager for proposal preparation and leadsmanagement of proposal preparation for a range of funders, mainly focused onIndia and Asia, but also across all areas of CIP operations, ensuring thatproposals are submitted on time, on budget and at highest-level of quality.This includes
o Assessingrequirements as determined by the funder and the funding request
o Providingtechnical input and support to the preparation of proposals, in liaison with otherstaff as relevant
o Developingworkplans together with PI to ensure sufficient time for preparations ofhighest quality that meet deadlines
o Compile/andenhance supporting documents for proposals ensuring they comply withrequirements (CVs, due diligence assessments, support letters, institutionaldocuments)
o Ensuringalignment between activities and costing
o Ensures coordination with all relevant stakeholders during proposalpreparation
- Supportsgeneral proposal development activities, including providing backgroundresearch into funders and their priority areas Coordinate technical review andapproval before submission to funders.
KnowledgeManagement (10%)
- Systematizes learnings from successful and unsuccessful proposals,in consultation with relevant teams, to improve future proposal preparation andsuccess rates.
- Providesupport to the development and dissemination of good practices and lessonslearned; ensure incorporation into program planning
- Lead incompiling and managing an online repository of good practices, lessons learnedand other resources on proposal development
- Contribute tocapacity building efforts, as necessary
- Continuous identificationof calls for proposals and processing of funding opportunities
- Firstselection of opportunities using pre-defined selection criteria in line withorganization guidelines and scope of work
- Ensure thatopportunities meet the needs and interests of CIP and its scientists beforethese are published internally
Informationmanagement (10%)
- Providesupport in managing outreach activities and other promotional events to engagebilateral and multilateral institutions/ funders, private sector, and civilsociety to expand and/or sustain interest and resources for CIP’s programs
- Analyzing andinterpreting the donor and partner environment relevant to climate change, foodsystems and biodiversity, and identifying opportunities for CIP’s assistanceand intervention
- Contributingto the effective implementation of CIP’s strategy and CIP’s ResourceMobilization Strategy by identifying opportunities for CIP’s strategicengagement with donors and partners
- Developing outreachefforts to the donors and partners
- Sharesknowledge, insights, and priorities to reinforce the connection between resourcemobilization and external communications, supporting efforts closely on suchrelated fields as communication, funder outreach and advocacy.
Requirements
- Bachelor’sdegree in business administration, Financial Management, Operations or relatedfield.
- Relevantexperience of at least 5 years in resource mobilization and research proposaldevelopment, particularly in agriculture, environment, rural development,and/or natural or social sciences.
- In-depthknowledge of proposal development: Experience in managing large, complex,technical proposals (≥US$2 million) in collaboration with multi-disciplinaryteams in international settings.
- Experience inpreparing analyses, guidance, or educational materials to support proposaldevelopment.
- Ability towork effectively in multi-cultural and interdisciplinary environments.
- In-depth knowledgeof India and Asia with regard to funding and partner landscape
- Proficient inMS Office, especially in MS Word, PowerPoint, MS excel
- Advancedwritten and oral communication skills in English and Hindi
Desirable:
- Knowledge ofFrench or Spanish would be an advantage
- Internationalexperience would be an advantage
