TheInternational Potato Center (CIP) seeks to recruit two (2) dynamic ProjectCoordinators for the West Bengal Project: ‘Developing local SeedPotato Production System in West Bengal’
The Position: The selected candidate will bebased at Cooch Bihar (1) and Hooghly (1), West Bengal. He/she will superviseoperations in the locations and consultants and will report to the PrincipalScientist.
KeyResponsibilities:
Project Management :
- Understandand internalize the project mission and contribute to achieving goalseffectively and sustainably.
- Developand maintain detailed work plans with the CIP project team and project projectpartners.
- Monitorand ensure activities are completed on time, within budget, and meetquality standards.
- Overseedaily project activities in collaboration with CIP project teams andpartners.
- Supportthe public and private partners on innovative potato productiontechnologies, ensuring active engagement and capacity building.
- Establishand maintain relationships with government services, research stations,NGOs, and farmer groups.
- Ensuretimely preparation and submission of technical and financial reports.
- Presentproject results and outcomes at professional meetings.
- Documentlessons learned and best practices.
- Buildcapacity of partners on seed potato production, field multiplication, and rapidseed multiplication technologies.
- Trainon seed production, soil fertility, and agronomic practices throughinnovation sites.
- Facilitatefield testing and variety identification for national registration.
- Providetechnical support in disease detection and tissue culture for seedproduction.
- Developlocally adapted protocols for seed quality assurance.
- Designand implement farmer extension materials and use ICT platforms foroutreach.
Requirements
- MScin Agriculture or related fields (PhD preferred but not required).
- Minimumof 8 years of experience in project coordination, implementation, andmanagement, including at least 6 years in potato seed systems, varietyperformance evaluation trials, innovative production practices, soilfertility management, and pest/disease management.
- Strongproject management, leadership, and team-building skills.
- Provenexperience in project coordination and stakeholder engagement.
- Proficiency inorganizational planning and budget management.
- Ability to workcollaboratively in multi-disciplinary and cross-cultural teams.
- Willingness totravel and work in rural, resource-limited areas.
- Advanced communicationskills in English; knowledge of local language is a plus.
