A leading organization focused on agricultural development is seeking a Data Collection Consultant for the DeSIRA project. This role involves creating and managing a centralized data repository, ensuring data quality, and supporting the Monitoring and Evaluation team. Candidates should have a degree in data management and significant experience in agricultural projects, with strong data analysis skills.
The International Potato Center (CIP) isimplementing the DeSIRA project, focusing on Climate-Smart Innovations toimprove the productivity, profitability, and sustainability of agriculture andfood systems in Malawi through multidisciplinary research. The project aims toenhance climate change adaptation within agricultural and food systems bydeveloping integrated technological innovations and fostering their uptake byfarmers. Additionally, the project seeks to inform policymakers and scalingpartners about the potential of these technologies to contribute to climateresilience and sustainability.
To enhance the efficiency and effectiveness ofmanaging data generated by project partners and in alignment with the EU dataaccess and sharing policy, the DeSIRA project recognizes the need to establisha comprehensive, centralized data repository. This repository is crucial forstoring and managing all project-related datasets. To ensure its successfuloperationalization, the project has decided to hire a Data CollectionConsultant to support the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) team in thecreation, management, and functionality of the data repository.
Objective
The Data Collection Consultant willsupport the Senior Research Associate in mapping data sources from allpartners, including different CGIAR centers. The role will involve gatheringdatasets, ensuring accurate data entry, assisting with data analysis, andcontributing to the operationalization of the data repository.
Inexecuting this assignment, the consultant will undertake the following specifictasks:
· Developa structured plan to map and source all datasets.
· Collectdatasets from all project partners across various locations.
· Enterall collected datasets into the centralized repository.
· Generatethe first report on data collection progress.
· Detaileddata validation and address any inconsistencies.
· Conducta thorough quality check on all datasets.
· Beginto collect datasets for the 2024-2025 season
· Resolveany missing or incomplete data entries.
· Enterall collected datasets for the 2024-2025 season into the centralized repository
· Submit a detailed report on the overall dataquality and recommendations
· Completefinal data validation and reporting.

Selection Criteria
· A degree or diploma in data management, information systems, or arelated field
· Minimum of 3 years of experience working for donor-fundedagricultural development projects
· Proven experience in data entry, databasemanagement, and data analysis.
· Proficiencyin using data management software and tools (e.g., Excel, SQL, or datavisualization tools).
· Strongattention to detail, accuracy, and data integrity.
· Abilityto work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
· Understanding of EU dataaccess and sharing policies is an advantage
· Strong organizational and time management skills
Time frame
· The successfulCandidate(s) will be placed on roster and will remain eligible forconsideration for a period of 12 months, after which their status may bereviewed based on the needs of CIP. Roster placement does not guaranteeemployment but ensures that the candidate will be considered for relevant,similar openings during the roster period.
