Troll VFX, a growing VFX studio in Tampere, Finland, is seeking a passionate Systems Manager to support our studio of creative artists.

In this role, you'll be the backbone of our technology infrastructure, ensuring our artists, technical team, and supervisors have the tools and support they need to bring their creative visions to life. As part of a collaborative environment, you'll work closely with production and creative teams to understand their needs and develop innovative solutions.

Responsibilities:

• Lead and mentor the IT team, fostering a strong technical foundation for the studio.
• Oversee high-performance storage platforms and systems, ensuring smooth workflow for rendering and complex simulations.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues with a deep understanding of large-scale networks and infrastructure.
• Identify and eliminate storage or network bottlenecks, optimizing performance across the studio.
• Manage data centers, ensuring efficient operations and security.
• Oversee technology purchasing, staying within budget and acquiring the right tools for the job.
• Manage software licenses and maintain strong vendor relationships.
• Ensure the studio’s IT Infrastructure is compliant with the security requirements of the VFX Industry.

Qualifications:

• 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure management or systems management.
• Proven experience in computer systems support, ideally in a lead role.
• A track record of successfully managing and motivating IT teams.
• The ability to clearly communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
• Extensive experience with Linux and Windows server administration.
• In-depth knowledge of IP networks and network services.
• Experience with managing Jira ticketing platform.
• Experience building resilient and scalable networks.
• A passion for Film and VFX related technologies.
• The drive to advance the IT infrastructure of the studio.

Nice to have:

• Experience with Deadline or similar render wrangling tools.
• Autodesk Shotgrid software is a major plus.
• Strong shell scripting skills are also a valuable asset.
• Experience with IT Infrastructure Security Frameworks, such as ISO27K.
