EXFO-Homeland Security division of EXFO designs products primarily for security services, national law enforcement, military special forces, and ministries of justice. EXFO-HS has a team of approximately 50 people across multiple countries, supporting customers all over the world.

Job summary:

You will work in close collaboration with the whole Product Organization in the HS business unit. You will have the responsibility for specifying requirements in your technical area, lead and execute technical activities to analyze, design, and verify features plans, write requirements, specifications, and other guiding documentation for R&D from a technical point of view. You may work also outside of your own area on technical issues, and coaching other team members with technologies, or in solving advanced engineering problems.

Your role

• Collaborate and coordinate with stakeholders (e.g. Product Management, R&D, etc) to discuss technical solutions to customer requirements
• Drive pre- and feasibility studies to investigate solution feasibility for (complex) features
• Analyze feature requests and feature user scenarios/stories, and document specifications for development team
• Respond to feature definition and requirements clarification questions from the development teams in a timely and effective manner.
• Identify and drive 3rd party technical evaluations and collaboration possibilities
• Define vision and set strategic direction of products System Architecture. Establish architectural principles and guidelines for Agile teams.

What we’re looking for

Technical skills

• Knowledge of mobile Radio Access Network (RAN) technologies (2G, 3G, 4G, 5G), radio system architecture, functions, and standards (3GPP)
• Experience on technical documentation and studies, and product system engineering, development, system test or network engineering, or in a related area of expertise
• Capability and will to lead and coordinate in technical topics. Capacity and interest to learn new technical areas and products.
• Understanding of software requirements management, familiar with HW/SW interoperability
• Experience with any of the following viewed positively:
  • Software architectures and design
  • SDR technologies
  • Networking technologies
  • AI/ML
  • Digital Signal Processing
  • RF know-how related to mobile technologies, including antennas

Required aptitudes

• Very good interpersonal, teamworking, and collaboration skills as well as capability to work in international business environment
• Systems thinking
• Open minded, analytical and results oriented

Requirements

Education: Master of science in telecommunications, computer science or equivalent area

Relevant experience: +5 years in product system engineering, development, system test, or in a related area of expertise

Language requirement: English (fluent in written and spoken) – a must. Finnish – a plus.
