THE ROLE

• Systems integration (i.e. creating solutions to connect new hybrid solutions to existing infrastructure). Engaging with C&I operators to create optimised technical solutions for their operations.
• Has a capability to analyse in detail historical datasets provided by operators and create optimal energy solutions and prepare eergy yield assessment/hybridization files.
• Generating PV & Battery solutions (PVsysts / layouts / etc).
• Working with Procurement and Engineering to create costed technical proposals.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with the Business Unit Manager and Project Development or Project Manager (depending on project phase) teams to ensure early engagement on technical and engineering criteria relevant to plant design and performance.
• To engage with Technical and Engineering teams on preliminary design, design for procurement and final design projects phases.
• To validate technical criteria relevant to project investment returns and to sign off technical review of project investment.
• To engage with appointed Technical Advisors on due diligence reports and for review / negotiation of technical criteria.
• To engage with Investors Technical Advisors on due diligence review / negotiation of technical criteria.
• To engage with Investors in relation to review of EPC & Technical Annexes and SPA agreements.
• To engage with strategic procurement team to evaluate new product technical specifications, qualify providers and technically validate offers with a view to enhancing project financial returns.
• To participate in the Senior Engineering Team led by the Chief Technology Officer with objectives to review and commercialize technology advancement to reduce EPC cost, improve plant performance, or optimise operating costs.
• Accept additional duties as situations arise.
• Identifying project and partnership opportunities to grow pipeline and negotiating and managing co-development agreements with support from the senior team.
• Prospecting large sites for ground mounted PV projects, BESS or T&D lines.
• Managing development process for secured projects and managing development budgets.
• Research grid status and availability and liaise with DNOs.
• Negotiating sub-contractor roles responsibilities and contracts.
• Analysing and reviewing commercial viability based on project's technical design and costing.
• Developing an in-depth knowledge of local market legislation, regulations, support schemes etc.
• Internal pipeline management and reporting.
• Supporting financial analysis of opportunities.
• Liaising with landowners or organisations to secure development pipeline security (HOT’s, Permission agreements for Grid, Option and Lease progression).
• Liaise with local authorities (Parish and County Council, local working groups).
• Processing and preparation of due governance diligence.

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or a related field
• Minimum of three years experience at Technical Manager level or equivalent, preferably in the renewable energy experience.
• Experience overseeing projects over 100 MW capacity in PV and relevant experience in BESS and T&D.
• Experienced in Engineering and construction.
• Experience in grid connection and commissioning is a plus
• Experience in Africa is a plus.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; Fluent in English is essential and ideally either French, Spanish, Italian or Portuguese.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent attention to detail and diligence.
• Positive, ‘can do’ attitude and flexible approach to tasks.
• Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
• Commitment and desire to see a project through to completion.
• Absolute “Self-Starter” who can manage their time and wider work responsibility.
• Draft presentation documents and present to Landowners and peers.
• Established network within the industry and contacts around the renewables industry.
• Knowledge of planning/simulation software (AutoCAD, Microsoft Project, PVsyst).
• A technical mindset and the ability to assess projects risk against benefits and potential constraints is paramount.
