As the Technical Director, you will build a team of engineers, facilitate communication between teams and departments, and contribute to technical product ownership. You will report directly to the CTO and work closely with the engineering management team.

Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with the CTO to build out the engineering team in Madrid and Spain.
  2. Work with individuals on a 1-on-1 level to help them set personal and professional career growth goals.
  3. Improve productivity by removing obstacles and keeping processes lean.
  4. Identify tension and issues within or across teams and resolve them.
  5. Conduct performance reviews and provide candid feedback on performance.
  6. Contribute to management best practices and engineering culture.
  7. Facilitate mentoring within the engineering discipline, both personally and across teams.
  8. Collaborate with our recruiting team to grow the team and determine growth needs with team leads and management.
  9. Work with the CTO and senior engineers to drive technical initiatives and improve our engineering practices.
  10. Develop and track essential quality and team performance metrics, drive their improvement over time, and communicate their status.
  11. Work with team members and stakeholders to manage the team's backlog, priorities, dependencies, and technical strategy.
  12. Facilitate team ceremonies, such as retrospective meetings.
  13. Stay on top of ongoing trends and technical developments in the team's domains.

Requirements:

  1. Experience as an engineer in the games industry.
  2. Understand the technical domain and translate company strategy into technical execution.
  3. Have experience as a manager with an understanding of manager dynamics and maturity.
  4. Possess strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Agile methodologies.
  5. Have experience with team capacity planning.
  6. Demonstrate good personal communication skills and the ability to have difficult conversations.
  7. Communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally.
  8. Know modern development methodologies like CI, TBD, TDD, CD, and DORA.
