Senior Technical Non-Life Reinsurance Accountant

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Technical Non-Life Reinsurance Accountant to join one of the best international reinsurance teams in Madrid. This role is crucial in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of the non-life reinsurance accounting processes. The ideal candidate will have between 3 to 5 years of relevant experience, with a strong command of English, as frequent communication with the Paris team is essential. Knowledge of French is a plus.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee and manage the technical accounting for non-life reinsurance operations.
• Ensure compliance with international accounting standards and company policies.
• Review and reconcile reinsurance accounts, including premiums, claims, and commissions.
• Prepare and analyze monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Assist in the preparation of financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Conduct variance analysis and provide explanations for significant deviations.
• Work closely with the Paris-based team to ensure accurate and timely financial information.
• Liaise with underwriters, actuaries, and claims departments to gather and verify necessary data.
• Participate in regular meetings with the international accounting team to discuss updates and resolve issues.

Compliance and Audit:

• Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
• Assist with internal and external audits, providing necessary documentation and explanations.
• Implement and maintain effective internal controls.

Process Improvement:

• Identify and implement improvements in accounting processes and systems.
• Stay updated with industry developments and best practices in reinsurance accounting.
• Train and mentor junior team members.

Requirements:

• 3 to 5 years of experience in non-life reinsurance accounting or a similar role.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional accounting certification (e.g., CPA, ACCA) is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of technical accounting principles and reinsurance practices.
• Excellent proficiency in English; French language skills are highly valued.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
