Head Of Safety & Environment - Your future role?
As the Head Of the Safety and Environment Department in Sant Celoni, you will be a member of the Management team and manage Environmental, Health, Safety, and Sustainability functions, ensuring compliance with Givaudan EHS policies and regulations.
You will report to the operations director and to the company manager.
Your main responsibilities:
Main responsibilities include managing risk, driving cultural change to minimize EHS incidents, overseeing the Waste Water Treatment Plant and waste elimination, and ensuring security to protect company assets. Additionally, the role involves optimizing the EHS organization to add value and promoting an EHS culture throughout the organization.
Support and advise management on all EHSS (Environmental, Health, Safety, Sustainability) aspects; act as a coach to line managers to ensure that EHSS becomes and remains a line responsibility. The scope is for Givaudan Ibérica, Fragrances & Beauty, and Taste & Wellbeing locations.
Develop and deploy EHSS vision aligned with company strategy for the site taking into account both the OPS/EHSS Global Strategy/initiatives as well as the local legislation.
Manage compliance with all EHS Regulations and ISO 14001 Certification.
Responsible for all Site EHSS training for new and existing employees and contractors.
Deploy behaviour-based safety programs.
Ensure safety and Health programs are strictly implemented.
Ensure emergency planning is effective.
Responsible for accurately completing and submitting regulatory reports.
Ensure KPI reporting is complete and initiate actions to drive towards the agreed targets.
Track site safety behavioural audits and incidents, analyze trends on audits, incidents, near miss reports, and report same to the management team.
Lead the employee safety committee to promote safety awareness and improve the overall safety of the site by driving issues identified to closure.
Manage all hazardous and non-hazardous waste activities, including wastewater treatment plant.
Manage all security aspects of the site.
Maintain good relationships with relevant external stakeholders (authorities/communities/network).
Act as primary contact for Country and local EHS regulatory agencies, for the Responsible Care program, Sectorial Commissions, the Health and Safety Committee, and other local departments.
Compliance responsibility: safety, health, and environmental regulations, as well as Quality Management System standards (ISO 9001 and GMPs), while monitoring compliance and managing risks within their team, with the authority to stop production if necessary.
Leading and promoting the local Green Team, whose mission is to have a positive impact on the social, environmental, and economic spheres by encouraging local volunteer actions.
Member of the Site Operations Management Team (OTM).
You have:
Diploma: Master's degree in chemistry, Engineering, EHS, or other related fields.
Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish (Catalan desirable).
Professional experience: 10 to 15 years of experience in the chemical industry and prior experience in the EHS field.
Appropriate country EHS qualification/certifications.
Experience in Hazard Identification, Risk Assessment, Risk Control, Root Cause Analysis, Environment, Process Safety, and Major Accidents Management, Audit.
