Linux Infrastructure Engineer

From Robert Walters we are looking for a Senior Linux Infrastrucutre Engineer to join a multinational Clinical Analysis Laboratory based in Barcelona.

As a Linux expert, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining RedHat and Ubuntu-based systems, databases, containers, and automation frameworks using tools like Ansible. Your expertise will be crucial in driving project success and ensuring the reliability and scalability of our infrastructure.

Responsibilities:

• Infrastructure Planning: Collaborate with stakeholders to understand project requirements and translate them into actionable infrastructure plans.
• System Design and Implementation: Design, deploy, and manage Linux-based systems, leveraging both RedHat and Ubuntu distributions, ensuring optimal performance, security, and scalability.
• Database Management: Configure, optimize, and maintain databases such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, ensuring data integrity, availability, and performance.
• Containerization: Implement and manage containerized environments using technologies like Docker and Kubernetes, ensuring seamless deployment and orchestration of applications.
• Automation and Configuration Management: Develop and maintain automation scripts and playbooks using Ansible to streamline provisioning, configuration, and management of infrastructure components.
• Project Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including developers, DevOps engineers, and system administrators to integrate infrastructure solutions with project requirements.
• Troubleshooting and Support: Provide expert-level support for Linux infrastructure issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and implement timely resolutions to minimize downtime.
• Documentation and Knowledge Sharing: Create comprehensive documentation for infrastructure configurations, processes, and best practices, and actively share knowledge with team members to foster continuous improvement.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (preferred).
• Minimum 6 years of proven experience as a Linux Systems Administrator or Infrastructure Engineer, with a focus on planning and building complex infrastructure solutions.
• Proficiency in RedHat and Ubuntu Linux distributions, including system administration, package management, and security best practices.
• Hands-on experience with database management systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB, including installation, configuration, and performance tuning.
• Expertise in automation and configuration management tools, particularly Ansible, for infrastructure provisioning and management.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to troubleshoot complex issues in a timely manner.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams.
