Your Career

As a Principal Architect at Palo Alto Networks you are responsible for the technical strategy throughout the life of our most strategic partnerships. You function as a technical advisor and advocate, thought leader, and executive partner to our prospects, customers, and sales teams. You pick up where executive relationships leave off and balance business and technical acumen to function as the executive partner for technical strategy and execution.

You are the technical strategy owner responsible for aligning our solutions to customer problems, priorities, environment, challenges, politics, and architecture. You provide guidance on how to architect Palo Alto Networks Zero Trust, Network Security and SASE solutions into customer environments and articulate the company point of view for solving complex security challenges as the benchmark for success.

As a technical advisor and advocate, you put yourself in the seat of the customer, apply your expertise to help them realize value through our solutions, align technical resources to execute the needed strategy, and serve as the executive partner to sales leadership. You provide insights on risk reduction, compliance, governance, and cost reduction through a prevention-first security approach based on the Palo Alto Networks security platform.

As a thought leader you challenge the status quo and architect elegant, effective, and simple solutions to complex problems. You address IT issues by leveraging the full Palo Alto Networks portfolio to create differentiated business value.

As an executive partner you are responsible for improving the productivity of our sales teams through the creation and delivery of business-relevant security conversations for our key prospects and customers. You build trust with champions and decision makers to influence buying criteria and work alongside account teams to uplevel selling approach and execution.

Your Impact

The Principal Architect’s value is measured by their ability to increase sales productivity:

• Play a key role on the EBC (Executive Briefing Centre) team in creating customer messaging that ties together the entire Palo Alto Networks Portfolio
• Uncover opportunities and convey differentiation of Palo Alto Networks Zero Trust, Network Security and SASE strategies
• Communicate to gain trust and buy-in from VP and CXO contacts at large customers and prospects
• Set and drive an agenda with the customer or prospect, with sales teams, and in the market through client workshops and architectural assessments and designs
• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of competing solutions and architectures to position Palo Alto Networks approaches
• Uncover new technology applications and use cases and create presentations, documents, and deliverables that illustrate value
• Document value gaps between the Palo Alto Networks platform and competitive offerings and communicate these to the sales organization
• Be a valued resource to Product Management for competitive insights and requirements for future market segments
• Coordinate closely with EBC Team, Senior Leadership, Sales, CISO teams, Sales Engineering, Product Management, Marketing, Channel Partners, and Consulting Engineering
• This is a senior technical, customer-facing role with recurrent value
• Customers and sales teams will know you by name

• Proven experience in pre-sales is highly preferable; consulting experience will also be considered
• Extensive knowledge of network and endpoint security architectures, history, and trends
• Solid fundamental networking background
• Knowledge of identity management, SIEM, and public/private cloud architectures
• Experience establishing credibility and strategic messaging with large enterprise customers
• Strong motivation to close deals
• Expected customer travel is 50% regionally and internationally
• Strong communication and presentation skills
• Robust problem solving and analytical skills with a systematic approach
• Fluent German and advanced English
