Welcome to Koko Black...
Koko Black are the leading artisan innovators of the chocolate world, sourcing the highest quality natural ingredients from Australia and around the globe. We believe in the passionate craftsmanship of our expert chocolatiers and are looking to cement Koko Back as Australia’s leading chocolate experience and choice for quality gifting.
Based in Melbourne, this role will be the counterpart to our P&C Advisor in Retail, who also bring a focus on talent and engagement company wide.
You will be the initial point of contact in the People & Culture team for all production and warehouse employee matters across the employee lifecycle, as well as look after our people's safety and compliance across the business, including creating and delivering required training.
This role has variety, opportunity to make an impact, and chocolate!
What does a day in this role look like?
You come into work, coffee in hand, and see there is a new incident report from one of our stores. One of our Team Members tripped and fell, but they are reported as ok. You send an email with some questions and actions to the Area Manager for that store.
Then it's time for a site walk, you want to ensure all the emergency buttons and fire extinguishers are being kept clear after recently adding new markings to ensure they're not blocked. This is part of our overall strategy to improve safety across the business, something you play a pivotal role in driving.
You talk to people throughout, getting any feedback, concerns and generally seeing how they are going.
You discuss a few immediate matters raised with our Manufacturing Manager, and let him know you'll add the others to the Safety Committee Meeting agenda for next week.
Next, you want to get stuck into some training content. Your two current focuses are updating training regarding moving safely around forklifts, and our Bullying and Harassment training as there is new legislation that requires a few updates be made.
Videos will be useful for both these topics, so you block out some time next week to film and work through mapping out the shots you need to capture and the accompanying script.
Our Manufacturing Manager wants your support to increase chocolate knowledge and skills across our production team, so you book in a meeting with him so you can understand current state, desired state and start working through ways we can address this capability need.
As you're wrapping that up, one of our production operators approaches you, seeking help understanding taking maternity leave as they are pregnant! They are very excited and you congratulate them, sit down and take them through the process for taking leave, entitlements and how we can support them in the lead up to having their baby.
Before you wrap up your day, you contact our first aid training provider, it's time to lock in our next refresher date for our on site first aid providers. You put this in the Safety Committee Meeting agenda which you finalise and send out ahead of next weeks meeting.
Hopefully that provides a view of what your days might look like, but no two will be the same!
