- Participate in design and sizing activities for R&T projects from concept to entry into service:
- Participate in technical reviews and configuration decisions as an expert in the structural strength field.
- Carry out stress activities to define and size major systems or structural interfaces, FEA and analytical hand calculations for example.
- Lead and carry out stress calculations to assess design solutions and trade studies.
- Prepare and review the required engineering documentation, i.e., manuals, requirements, reports, presentations, justification notes and memos, stress analysis files and models, among others.
- Drive problem solving activities and provide technical solutions.
- Actively participate and guide structure design (metallic & composite) and/or system installation design activities
- Collaborate with a vast group of experts to recommend the best structural concept selection.
- Elaborate risk management matrix and mitigation plans.
- Define strategy for achieving projects goals: content, scope of work, costs, risks.
- Liaise with suppliers, internal and external.
- Provide visibility to management as needed.
How to thrive in this role? Skills, knowledge & experience:
- You have a bachelor’s degree or a master’s degree in mechanical/aerospace engineering.
- You have a minimum of 15 years of advanced structural analysis experience in static, for primary structures and system components (metallic and composite).
- You have a hands-on experience on major structures development on a minimum of two new aircraft development programs.
- You are proficient in using software packages such as MSC PATRAN/NASTRAN, Altair Hyper Works, LS-DYNA as well as CATIAv5 or NX, and the MS Software Suite (MSWord, MS Excel).
- You have knowledge of object-oriented programming methods.
- You have knowledge of design and manufacturing processes of the aerospace industry.
- You are autonomous, result-driven, and enthusiastic with strong work ethics.
- You have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- You have strong communication skills and can easily tailor your communication to suit the audience. You strive for harmonious cohesive teamwork.
