The Traineeship Program Coordinator (50D) is responsible for coordinating the Indigenous Health Workforce Traineeship (IHWT) Program.

This role focuses on promoting the IHWT program through metropolitan, regional, and remote parts of WA. Reporting to the Workforce Coordinator, the position is responsible for identifying, assessing, and recruiting suitable trainees with the right background and attributes to take on traineeship opportunities through the IHWT program, including sourcing relevant training providers and matching trainees with relevant culturally appropriate training programs.

We’re looking for someone with the following skills and experience:

  • Experience in program/project administration, recruitment, training and development or a related field.
  • An understanding of the vocational education and training (VET) sector and navigating the intricacies and frameworks of qualifications delivered by Registered Training Organisations (RTOs).
  • Well-developed administrative skills, including strong attention to detail, accuracy and time management skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with applicants, external organisations, management and employees at all levels of the organisation.
  • Strong written communication skills with the ability to draft correspondence, edit documents and write reports.
  • Demonstrated ability to uphold the principles of cultural safety, including communicating sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Ideally, in addition to the above, we are looking for someone who has experience working in Aboriginal health, and has an understanding of the challenges and issues, including social determinants, that affect Aboriginal people’s health in contemporary Australian society.

Please note: In addition to the above skills and experience, the successful candidate will require an unrestricted WA “C” Class Driver’s Licence, and be required to submit a National Police Clearance (dated within 3 months) prior to appointment. Applicants for this position must be legally entitled to work in Australia and will be required to provide evidence of this entitlement, such as an Australian passport or birth certificate.
