Job Title: Assistant Project Manager – Innovation

Reporting to: Business Development Director

Business Unit: Support Office

Purpose of the Position

The key function of this role is to support the Business Development Director by acting as a focal point for our Regions and BU’s in the support and development of our key innovation topics. Supporting the planning and execution, and co‑ordinating communication to ensure innovation projects run smoothly from start to finish.

Responsibilities & Duties

Including but not limited to the following:

  • Assisting the BDD and BU’s in defining project scope, setting objectives, and creating timelines and budgets.

  • Handle day‑to‑day administrative tasks like scheduling meetings, taking meeting minutes, and managing project documentation.

  • Support and deliver Innovation and creativity workshops across the business.

  • Act as central point of contact, facilitating communication between team members, clients, and vendors, and ensuring information is communicated effectively.

  • Tracking project progress against the plan, monitoring the budgets, identifying potential risks, and preparing status reports and performance summaries.

  • Help identify potential risks and implement corrective actions. Assist in managing changes to the project scope and budget.

  • Oversee specific aspects of any innovation project execution, ensure tasks are completed on time, and assist with final reports and next steps recommendations closeout documentation.

  • Develop and oversee the RDEC (Research and Development (R&D) expenditure credits) claim registers. Supporting the BUGM’s and FBP’s by delivering training to project managers, design managers, and site staff to raise awareness of RDEC and what benefits it brings to the business. Support the team with VINCI Leonard innovation funding submissions for any identified opportunities.

Person Specification

Qualifications and Experience

  • A relevant university qualification – Project management, engineering, etc.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent analytical skills to identify trends and provide insights.
  • Outgoing and willing to challenge team members to help them think outside the box.
  • Able to keep the conversation moving helping others move forwards if stuck in a spiral.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills.
  • Strong communication skills for various stakeholders.
  • Be able to work under pressure, be a team player and have a high level of self‑motivation.
  • Possess the ability to use your initiative to ensure new skills and tasks are picked up easily.
  • The flexibility to work additional hours whenever required.

  • Experience in innovation and understanding of creative thinking tools and techniques (training will also be provided).
  • Innovation Development skills – identifying, developing, and scaling up innovations for business improvements.
  • Influencing skills – including encouraging innovation and fostering change within large scale capital and/or technical programmes.
  • Effective Communication skills – including influencing senior internal stakeholders and providing guidance and support to colleagues across disciplines to support innovation.
  • Knowledge of managing the innovation process and landscape in a complex environment.
  • Experience of working within a complex stakeholder environment.
  • Maintaining a positive outlook and have the ability to dig deeper into business as usual to expose potential innovations.
