Job description

The primary purpose of the Technical Office Engineer (Infrastructure) is to provide expert technical support and guidance throughout the lifecycle of infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all technical aspects of the project are meticulously planned, accurately executed, and rigorously monitored to meet design specifications, quality standards, and regulatory requirements. The Technical Office Engineer plays a pivotal role in bridging the gap between the design and construction teams, ensuring seamless communication and collaboration to deliver successful project outcomes. By addressing technical challenges, implementing quality control measures, and ensuring compliance with safety regulations, the Technical Office Engineer contributes significantly to the efficient and safe completion of infrastructure projects, thereby enhancing overall project performance and client satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Project Planning and Design:

  • Collaborate with architects and project managers to understand project specifications and design requirements.
  • Assist in developing detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, and resource allocation for infrastructure projects.

Technical Documentation:

  • Prepare and review technical drawings, plans, and specifications using computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • Ensure all technical documentation is accurate and complies with industry standards and local regulations, particularly focusing on infrastructure-specific requirements.

Site Supervision:

  • Conduct site inspections to monitor progress and ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and on-site personnel to resolve technical issues specific to infrastructure projects.

Quality Control:

  • Implement and oversee quality control procedures to ensure the highest standards of construction.
  • Conduct tests and inspections of materials and workmanship to verify compliance with specifications, with an emphasis on infrastructure elements like roads, bridges, and utilities.

Problem Solving:

  • Identify potential technical challenges and develop solutions to mitigate risks.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to construction teams to address and resolve on-site issues promptly.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure all construction activities adhere to local building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental standards.
  • Conduct safety audits and risk assessments to identify and address potential hazards.

Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain detailed records of project progress, technical issues, and resolutions.
  • Prepare regular reports for project managers and stakeholders, highlighting key milestones, challenges, and solutions.

Coordination and Communication:

  • Liaise with clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Facilitate effective communication among all project stakeholders to ensure alignment and timely decision-making.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a similar role within the construction industry, with a focus on infrastructure projects.
  • Proven experience in project planning, site supervision, and quality control.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency in CAD, Civil 3D software and other relevant engineering tools.
  • Preferably experienced in BIM Implementation and usage of Revit & Navisworks
  • Strong understanding of construction methods, materials, and legal regulations in the UAE, specifically related to infrastructure.

Soft Skills:

  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Certification in Project Management (e.g., PMP) or other relevant professional certifications.
  • Knowledge of sustainable construction practices and green building standards.
  • Working Conditions:
  • Primarily on construction sites, with some office-based work for planning and documentation.
  • May require working extended hours, including weekends, to meet project deadlines.
  • Frequent interaction with contractors, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities.
