Job description

We are looking for a dedicated and reliable Supermarket Officer to join our team. As a Supermarket Officer, you will play a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of our supermarket and delivering excellent customer service. You will be responsible for overseeing daily activities, maintaining inventory, and managing the overall cleanliness and organization of the store. This is a challenging yet rewarding position that offers opportunities for growth and advancement within our company.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate the work of supermarket staff to ensure high levels of customer service and satisfaction
  • Monitor inventory levels, conduct regular stock checks, and order products as needed to ensure optimal availability and minimize wastage
  • Oversee the receiving and storage of stock, ensuring proper rotation and handling of perishable items
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe supermarket environment by implementing and enforcing sanitation and safety policies
  • Train and develop supermarket staff, providing ongoing guidance and support to ensure consistent adherence to store policies and procedures
  • Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and returns in a timely and professional manner, striving to resolve any issues to the customer's satisfaction
  • Collaborate with management to develop and implement promotional strategies and displays to maximize sales and revenue

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional qualifications in retail or business management is a plus
  • Proven experience in a similar role within the supermarket industry
  • Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate and inspire a team
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks effectively
  • Proficient in using computer systems and point of sale (POS) software
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport with customers and staff
  • Detail-oriented and able to maintain accuracy in cash handling and inventory management
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
