Key Responsibilities
The Markets COO, MENA represents the Markets, MENA business as a first line of defence. The Business Manager is to focus specifically on Markets, MENA controls, governance, and supervision. Assistance is also provided to Treasury-Markets and CMPS as per the outline in the Memorandum of Understanding between Financial Markets, Treasury-Markets and CMPS.
- Execute and implement the local Markets strategy and business initiatives for SCB MENA.
Strategy
- Execute and implement the local Markets strategy and business initiatives for SCB MENA.
Business
- Execution and delivery of the global Markets agenda locally.
- Partner with local support functions and stakeholders to unblock any business issues.
- Be the “connector” between global and local and export best practices.
- Business budgeting and forecasting where required.
- Driving and management of a prudent cost culture.
Processes
- Continuously seek out process simplification and process re-engineering opportunities to improve operational efficiency.
- Keep up to date with local regulations to assess impact / business opportunities and manage any changes to business processes and infrastructure.
- Responsible for coordinating with stakeholders in the country and with other Financial Markets Risk managers to increase transparency and share key learnings and best practices.
- Accountable for ensuring business staff complete Risk Acceptance Templates for material risks / control failures identified.
- Responsible for the implementation and execution of the Control Sample Testing (CST) process, sampling and testing the population of controls to ensure compliance with agreed control standards.
- Responsible for ensuring quality of information recorded in risk tracking system (M7), as well as ensuring accuracy, completeness of data, and timely resolution of actions.
- Responsible for supporting the business in minimizing operational risks and losses.
- Working with the Senior Operational Risk Officer (SORO), responsible for ensuring Root Cause Analysis (RCA) is completed for any audit fail.
- Responsible for coordinating internal and external audit reviews.
Risk Management
- Support MENAP Markets Head in running of the local Markets Non-Financial Business Risk Forums (Markets NFRFs).
- Identify, assess and mitigate operational risks in-country.
- Execute controls, monitor, report and escalate operational risks where appropriate in-country.
Governance
- Operate effective supervision of Markets, and oversight of Treasury Markets, and Capital Markets Products and Solutions (CMPS) in the dealing room, where applicable.
- Ensuring dealing room staff adhere to internal and external processes and procedures.
- Support the MENAP Markets Head in supervising and coordinating in-country audits.
- Provide business support on dealing room management.

- LANGUAGES - ENGLISH, ARABIC (PREFERABLE)
